Interfaith Cooperative Ministries

Interfaith Cooperative Ministries (ICM) is a large coalition of area churches, temples and mosques dedicated to promoting peace and mutual understanding, strengthening families and communities and helping the poor, the hungry and the elderly. Bethesda Lutheran Church officially joined ICM in 2004. Among the programs organized or supported by ICM are:

  • Aging at Home
  • Connecticut Interfaith Budget Watch
  • Cook and Care Walkathon
  • Family Promise
  • Fresh Start – New Haven
  • Inner City Community Coffee House
  • Inside At Night
  • Summer in Faith
  • The Dialogue Project

Since 2004, delegations from Bethesda have walked in the Cook and Care Walkathon. See http://www.cookandcare.org/ for more information. Cook and Care raises money to support Community Soup Kitchen, FISH of Greater New Haven, Downtown Evening Soup Kitchen, and Interfaith Community Care Givers.

In 2007, Bethesda's walkers raised $1193. With a $400 match from Thrivent Financial For Lutherans, the total donation to Cook and Care was $1593. We hope to do even better in 2008!
